KFSONE's WW2 Pages

This is the WWII Online repository of Oliver "kfsone" Smith, currently employed as the game's lead host programmer. My job is to write the servers that run the game.

I've been a professional software developer for over 17 years, with experience covering Business, Networking and Media/Entertainment software. But it was originally games, and particularly the then unrealized concept of multiplayer games that drew me to programming.

I discovered WWII Online through my ties to the Rats from the old WarBirds days, when I created the old WarBirds.org site. I was a member of the Closed Beta for a long time, and a day 1 player. I'd just started a new job at News International when I got the call from Mo that they could use another developer on the server team...

A lot of my work has been behind the scenes, making the code less expensive to maintain and simpler to improve, and creating tools to automate management of the running game. I *don't* have anything to do with the web or forums.

The only pitfall to being a Rat is that I get so little time to play the game now and since that all caps name seems to mean "customer service" to some folks, I prefer to play under another name.
